Nourish the mind, explore the past and examine the present: Coriano’s new cultural programme, a series of literary events designed to offer local residents opportunities for deep and stimulating discussion.

The programme will run throughout June and July, hosting essayists, historians and storytellers capable of covering everything from personal growth to the grand narrative of Italian history, right down to the most intimate themes of contemporary fiction.

The beating heart of the event will be the charming Piazza Mazzini, the ideal setting for summer evenings al fresco, with the exception of two specific events (on 17 and 30 June) which will be held inside the Municipal Library.

All the events offer an original reinterpretation of reality: whether it be debunking school myths about the Risorgimento, analysing the dark sides of the rulers of Italy and France, or recounting female courage and the fight against illness.

Below is the detailed programme:

June events

Wednesday 10 June (Piazza Mazzini) | Dr Tiziana Cumbo – “Psicovitamine: 10 ways to look after yourself” (Balzano editore). The series opens with a programme that intertwines psychology and wellness practices. An event dedicated to those wishing to acquire practical tools and inspiration to look after themselves in a conscious, holistic and profound way.
Tuesday 16 June (Piazza Mazzini) | Prof. Emiliano Procucci – “Louis XVI: the man, the king, the martyr” -Bastogi Libri. A historical focus that shines a spotlight on the true figure of the last French monarch before the Revolution. Professor Procucci will analyse the human and political aspects of the king that Enlightenment and post-Enlightenment historiography have most distorted and misrepresented.
Wednesday 17 June (In the Library) | Dr Susanna Petrini – Meet the author: “The Robotic Self” Europa Edizioni . A provocative and topical analysis of the human being, viewed not merely as a biological creature, but as a ‘technologically advanced’ structure. A philosophical and scientific journey to understand how contemporary man can transcend his natural barriers to expand his cognitive and behavioural potential.
Tuesday 23 June (Piazza Mazzini) | Prof. Andrea Santangelo – “Stories of Command. The Italian Generals of the Risorgimento” Salerno Editrice A critical reinterpretation of the wars of independence, far removed from the myths of marble. Santangelo restores the human dimension – made up of rivalries, strategic errors, but also great courage and overlooked insights – of the military leaders who forged Italy.
Friday 26 June (Piazza Mazzini) | Maurizio Temeroli – “News from Irma” Edizioni Pendragon Presentation of the novel that weaves the protagonist’s private life with sixty years of world and Italian history. From 1968 to the 2000s, passing through the Years of Lead and the moon landing, the book offers a powerful assessment of our civic consciousness.
Tuesday 30 June (In the Library) | Daniele Celli – “Riminesi Pan” ANF Edition. A tribute to the 65th anniversary of the Frecce Tricolori and the 100th anniversary of the 2nd Wing. Edited by the National Faleristic Association of Rimini, the volume is the result of years of historical and documentary research that highlights the cultural and identity-defining value of aviation for the Romagna region.
July events

Tuesday 14 July (Piazza Mazzini) | Prof. Marco Bocchio – “La scelta” ANF Edition. The focus of the event is the complex figure of Vittorio Emanuele III and his dramatic decision to leave Rome on 9 September 1943. Bocchio traces the sovereign’s biography and his difficult relationship with fascism, inviting deep reflection in times of crisis, far from hasty judgements.
Monday 27 July (Piazza Mazzini) | Milena Ercolani – “La coda della lucertola” (The Lizard’s Tail) Carlo Filippini publisher. Stories of real life and of women capable of making difficult choices. Like lizards that shed their tails to save themselves, knowing they will grow back, the protagonists of these tales accept paying a high price for a second chance at life.
Wednesday 29 July (Piazza Mazzini) | Mina Musardo – “L'uomo che sorrideva al destino” Italian ediz. The festival concludes with a true story, intense and luminous. The story of a man who faces cancer with the quiet courage of the heart and of a woman who, by his side, discovers the truest power of love and hope in the face of fear.
